As Women's History Month is coming to a close, I've been reflecting on my first four months as CEO. My introduction and on-boarding has been filled with learning and listening and I am inspired by the team of dedicated staff and volunteers who make this experience possible for Girl Scouts in Northern California.
Walking through beautiful Skylark Ranch for the first time since I was a camper in the 80s, I reflected on the power of the Girl Scout experience in my own life. Although the ridgeline is different now because of the fires, Skylark still holds a special kind of magic that I look forward to revealing to the next generation of Girl Scouts in the years to come.
Speaking of the next generation, I was blown away at this year’s eco-feminist themed Lead the Way conference in February hosted by older Girl Scouts. Watching their leadership, passion, and sisterhood at work was a powerful testament to the enduring relevance of this Movement.
It was great to connect and learn from 400+ volunteers at Discoveree in early March – the dutch oven cooking has been, and always will be, my favorite! Thank you to all the session leads and the wonderful volunteer-led committee for their efforts.
And, last but certainly not least, its everyone’s favorite season...Girl Scout COOKIE SEASON! From Gilroy to Del Norte & Siskiyou counties, Girl Scouts are out in full force selling the 4 million packages of cookies we have in our council right now! Our Girl Scouts were AMBITIOUS in setting their goals this season. I’m so proud of them for chasing big dreams.

2022 Impact Report

2022 was a year of community, transition, and transformation. Thanks to you, we are emerging with confidence and determination.
In this year’s Impact Report, we highlight stories important to girls—standing in solidarity for racial justice, intersectional feminism, diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging, as well as support for the LGBTQIA+ community—making it clear: you belong in Girl Scouts of Northern California.
It is so inspiring to see how much Girl Scouts learn and the confidence they gain, while also being there for each other.
We are proud of the work we did in 2022 to bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to over 25,000 Girl Scouts in Northern California. Thank you to all of our caregivers, volunteers, staff, and our incredible donors for continuing to pour your support into the Girl Scout community.

Skylark Ranch Recovery Update
|
|
Thanks to the wonderful Skylark community, we can move on to the next phase of our recovery, with a focus on infrastructure, which longer term, will support the return of larger groups to the site.
This work includes, but is not limited to:

Working with PG&E to restore power.

Continuing with sustainable forest health practices, tree and invasive species removal, and crop new trees.

Hosting work parties — volunteers on site will support us removing invasive species and undertaking basic ground maintenance work.

We hope to be ready for small group camping as early as summer 2024.
|
